I have lost count, because we are now officially counting down.
On June 2nd the childcare reopens for Elsa, and a week later Aiden will return too. Katelyn and I will remain working from home. We look forward to increased productivity.
I read somewhere that it is good to stick to a routine. Slicing up every day into segments and grind your way through those. Our day is naturally broken up by mealtimes, and Aiden takes a nap after lunch. While he sleeps, Elsa does some reading/writing/math followed by some tablettime.
Our evenings have followed a regular pattern for years, with a carefully choreographed sequence of dinner, shower, family TV, brushing teeth, storytime, and finally bedtime.
So, we really only need to fill the few hours between breakfast and lunch and between after nap to dinner. And hey, some mornings the kids have "zoom" lesson sessions... Can't be hard that, right?
Right...
I read a tweet at the start of the lockdown: "Been homeschooling a 6-year old and 8-year old for one hour and 11 minutes. Teachers deserve to make a billion dollars a year."
Anyway, below are some of the activities we went through. Katelyn makes these collages so she can share them on whatsapp, without sending a bunch of photos. Very useful for a blog.
We make pizza (once a week):
Elsa made a pet shop house, drawing the pets on the sides:
We made fruity frozen popsicles from blueberries, and blended lychees and orange juice:
One of us is all into letters nowadays and he decorates them with pictures:
And, it was Mother's Day, which in Singapore is not associated with Nazism:
One and a half week more to go... 10 days, to be precise... ten... more... days... ten... more...
Tennnnnn......
