Vakantie maand: de komkommer tijd van de blog

Aiden is so fake in loving Katelyn sometimes that we call him 'slijmbal'. So, when the child menu had a linguine with meatballs, Aiden said: "not sure about those, but I do like slime-balls"

We see some toy in a shop window. Aiden says, "I want that toy."
A minute later we pass an ice-cream shop. Aiden demands, "I want ice-cream."
Katelyn, annoyed: "You just want everything. This is getting silly."
Aiden explains, "I'm just greedy. I'm a child. It's how children behave."

Aiden has two big balloons, he holds them in from of his chest, with the knot pointing out and shouts to everyone around him, "Look! I have two huge nipples!"

We're on vacation in a French house. Aiden and Elsa want to watch TV, but find no English language channels other than Bloomberg TV. I leave them to it. When I return after half an hour and tell them it's time to go to sleep, Elsa says, "No, Papa... Please... You have to let us watch for 16 more minutes, because that's when the market closes!"

We open all the windows in the car. Elsa: "This is the eco-friendly aircon!" Aiden: "Luckily we have our seat belts on, otherwise the wind will blow us away."

Elsa and I watch a 3 year old little girl walk and jump around, ultra-happy, with a huge smile on her face. But then the girl stumbles and falls face forward on the floor. She starts screaming for her mama to rush over and soothe her.
Elsa turns her face away, stares into the void, sighs deeply and says, "Happiness never lasts..."

We drive into Schiphol carpark in the rental vehicle that's been our home for three weeks. Katelyn suggests, "Let's say goodbye to our blue car, it served us well!"
Aiden: "Thank you, papa, for driving us over the past three weeks!"

Aw ❤️

A month after we return to Singapore we all catch the covid. Elsa is frustrated that we have to remain at home: "Can't I just go outside to play?"
Katelyn explains, "The rule is that you have to have a negative ART test before you can leave the house."
Elsa stamps her foot and says stubbornly, "Well, then that ART test is wrong!"

It is evening. We walk home and cross a bridge over the river. Elsa and Aiden walk ahead of us. Elsa says in a soft voice, "This is such a romantic walk."
