Nog een paar uit Singapore

Me: "Aiden, if you do 5 or 10 more swimming lessons like this, you'll be able to swim without floaties."
Aiden: "Oh, then, when we buy a new baby, we can pass my floaties to the baby."

Aiden found out that this used to be my toy car. He asks: "It looks old and dirty [rusty]. Where you very poor? Maybe this was your only toy?"

I speak with my mask on. Elsa: "Papa, you sound muffled."
Katelyn is impressed: "Nice choice of words Elsa. I didn't know the word 'muffled' when I was seven years old."
Elsa, thoughtful: "I believe I learnt the word when I was six. Or, hmmm, maybe five."

Elsa: "Papa, is this how you write number?"
I check her scribbling:
    numbur
Me: "Almost correct Elsa, number is with an e."
Two minutes later, I look again:
    numbue

Elsa uses a laptop to complete a home-based learning activity. We overhear her saying: "Pottery? I don't want to do this, I don't even like pottery."
Katelyn is upset. Pottery? How can they expect a child to do pottery online? Then she reads the assignment title on the screen: Poetry

Katelyn makes a joke. Elsa: "Mama, you are so historical." (hysterical)
