Katelyn and Aiden are reading the book The Elephant Learns to Share.
After reading this page, Aiden says, "ya ya, Elephant doesn't want to
share his snack because it is the covid! Hippo didn't know that it is
the covid."
We're listening to Placebo on the tijdloze on Studio Brussel.
Elsa: "Got now friends, got no mother?"
Aiden: "No, got no friends, got no God (got)."
Elsa: "Oh, it's... got no friends, got no marbles."
(They're close enough: Got no friends, got no lover)
Katelyn: "Elsa, can you be more ladylike?"
Elsa: "I'm not ladylike, I'm just being humanlike."
I lament about how we need to do so many things before we're on the bike to school... Eating, a shot of vitamin C, get dressed, brush teeth, mosquito repellent, get masks on etc. etc.
Elsa suggests: "Maybe you should make a checklist and use a pencil to mark the things we have to do."
Me: "That is so impressive, a great idea! But, I can still memorize the things, so a checklist would be overdoing it."
Then we leave the house and go down to the carpark.
When we're about to mount the bicycle, Elsa says: "Oops, we forgot our helmets." Then she adds with a devious grin: "Are you sure you don't need that checklist, Papa?"
Another parent overheard the kids at pickup from the childcare. Ryota was explaining that something was “more gooder” to which Elsa replied, “did you know there’s no such thing as gooder?”
Theo: “Yes it should be better.”
Elsa confidently: “Yes it’s more better.”
Aiden looks at the clock: "It is time to sleep. It twenty eleven. That means it is not eleven twenty."
Elsa: "I don't care about TV or book tonight. I only care about playing rugby. I love playing rugby."
Katelyn: "Er, sorrywhat?"
Erik: "Hmm, Merel likes rugby too, where did you learn about rugby?"
Elsa: "No, I mean that box with the game. The tiles with the numbers" (rummi)
And, sometimes it is the papa who tries to be funny:
Katelyn: "Grrr, you change the kids, they don't listen to me." Erik: "hmm, hmm.. Eh, sorry, what was that?"
Aiden shows how hamsters eat, using two cherry tomatoes...
